New Network Solver
The new V3 network solver engine introduced within this release is an alternative, reformulated approach to resolving the network flow optimization problem at the heart of Enersight that is faster, more robust and more explainable in terms of results. This solver will be our recommended solver going forward, automatically selected for new projects created.
This new solver is available on an Opt-In basis – existing solvers will remain available indefinitely with no required changes to your existing results or workflow. If you are interested in converting your existing project over to the new V3 solver, please refer to our How To topic to guide you through whether your model is a candidate and the steps involved in re-calibrating results back to your currently expected results.
Key features of this new solver include:
- Faster solves via reducing or removing the non-linearities of the solving process, pending the exact network being approached
- Automatic attainment of a Global Solve, removing the need to configure this dropdown and pay the performance penalty associated with the enlarged search
- More deterministic and explainable results, specifically related to how pipeline priorities are treated and how wells are chosen to be shut in
- Expansion of the solve capabilities to include minimum and maximum oil quality limits as a constraint
- Resolution of existing bugs within previous solvers regarding pipeline’s split flow percentage specifications, the constraint of products previously removed from the flow path and constraining of products through a ratio type where the denominator is zero
- Increase validation errors/warning for incorrectly configured inputs
